Alice in Wonderland

Through the years, Omar has done some paintings inspired by the world of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. None of these were done for publication. The first two he created (The Caterpillar and Croquet) were done for a special online exhibition featuring several artist's interpretation of Alice in Wonderland. The rest were done just for fun, or by request as commissions from art collectors.
Here they are, in no particular order.

Really BIG Art!

This past winter, Omar was commissioned to do a painting titled "Bunny's Birthday Bash". The client wanted him to do a very LARGE watercolor depicting her favorite rabbits and their friends partying it up. The painting was so large, in fact, that it did not fit on Omar's usual work desk. He had to make a temporary workspace just to accommodate the piece.

You'd figure that when facing such a huge task, Omar would maybe perhaps just possibly consider that he might use bigger brushes and use bolder strokes to get the job done. Nope, he used his usual little brushes and spared no detail. Crazy man. But the finished piece is quite epic, as you can see in the images below.

Fantastic Art

We're very excited to announce that Omar's painting of "Night at the Races" has been nominated for an award in the upcoming Spectrum Fantastic Art annual. We will be traveling to Kansas City in May for the Spectrum Fantastic Art LIVE convention, where they will be announcing the winners and presenting the awards. Omar won the Gold Award last year in the "Unpublished" category. Not one to rest on his laurels, he's very happy and humbled to be in the running again this year. To be nominated two years in a row is thrilling to say the least, since every year the bar is raised soooo much higher. The quality and range of work submitted by the artists each year is just astounding, hats off to the judges who have to make the tough decision about which pieces make the cut!
Below are a few of the other nominated pieces.
Dan dos Santos - Taking Flight
Sam Bosma - Critical Education
Forest Rogers - Venetian Harpy
Te Hu - Wonders: Gate of Luxor
Jeffrey Alan Love - Skyrim
